Art + Science Rendevous
Panelists include: JD Talasek, Director of Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences and creator and moderator for the monthly DASER (DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous) salon held at NAS. He is currently on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University, and he is the Art and Design Advisor for the National Academies Keck Futures Initiative (NAKFI) based in Irvine, CA. Janeil Engelstad initiates interdisciplinary collaborations to produce multi-form projects that address social and environmental concerns. She is the Founding Director of Make Art with Purpose (MAP), an organization that produces international projects in art, science, design and architecture and she is an Associate Artist at the Social Practice Art Research Center, University of California, Santa Cruz. Ira Greenberg, Director of the Center of Creative Computation and professor of computer science and engineering at Southern Methodist University. Marco Buongiorno Nardelli is a computational materials physicist, a composer, flutist and a member of iARTA at the University of North Texas. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the Institute of Physics, a founding member of the AFLOW Consortium and a Parma Recordings artist. Ruth West, Director of xREZ Art + Science Lab at UNT. Her work envisions a future in which art-science integration opens new portals of imagination‚creative expression‚ invention‚ knowledge‚ and communication across cultures to create solutions for our most pressing global problems.
