Leonardo

From the Introduction, "Shortly after Newton Harrison’s death on 4 September 2022, I phoned Roger Malina about producing an essay for Leonardo to celebrate Newton’s life and work. He agreed, and proceeded to tell me about an idea he had been discussing with his colleagues. Rather than writing a biographical account of the life of someone who had died, one would write a reflective essay relating stories connected to the deceased’s artistic, technical, and scientific output. He called this “disremembering.” We agreed that this approach aligned with Newton’s own interests, as well as Newton’s penchant for writing that was affecting, educational, and entertaining. We also decided to expand this disremembering to include essays addressing the collaborative work Newton produced with his wife and longtime creative partner, Helen Mayer Harrison, who died in 2018.
